Acting BA (Hons)

Acting BA is a demanding course that involves a lot of hard work and dedication. At our university, the programme of study has been structured so that students gain the best possible knowledge and have the opportunity to work with some of the most respected actors in the industry. The course is based on classes in acting techniques, vocal work, physical activities and creative arts making.

Why study for an Acting BA?
  • The course is part of important groupings that enhance the job prospects of graduates (British Fashion Council, The Association of Fashion and Textiles Courses, Association of Illustrators and AA2A).
  • Students have the opportunity to work and gain experience on live projects (Bedford Creative Arts, London Luton Airport, Luton Town FC, Luton Culture Trust and Penguin Books)
  • The university offers the opportunity to perform alongside well-known and respected directors
  • Students can benefit from comprehensively equipped, state-of-the-art rehearsal studios
  • The teaching team consists of experienced staff from the arts sector
  • At the end of the course, students can do a year-long art internship and gain the contacts needed in the industry
What is the Acting BA course like and what do students learn?
  • Students acquire not only acting skills, but also entrepreneurship and training techniques
  • Knowledge is given both in the form of theory (e.g. issues in drama history) and practice (e.g. theatre classes).
  • Students acquire the skills to analyse, evaluate the work and present their opinions
  • The credit consists of creating their own work, which students present in the theatre in the company of a live audience
  • Students can participate in extra-curricular activities as well as exchanges and excursions organised by the university.
